Treatment of jaw and tooth misalignments
In holistic dentistry, great emphasis is placed on identifying and treating the underlying causes of dental issues. This proactive approach helps prevent long-term damage caused by tooth misalignment. Excellent results can be achieved, especially in young individuals as well as adults. Tooth Resilience: In addition to the beauty and aesthetics of straight teeth, their resilience is crucial. Teeth with misalignment may not withstand stress as well, whereas properly aligned teeth can distribute chewing pressure more effectively to the bone bed, thus maintaining their integrity for longer periods. Furthermore, the risk of later dental diseases such as tooth decay and gum disease can be reduced timely, as cleaning the interdental spaces becomes easier with accessible areas. Braces for Children: At a young age, bones and teeth are more malleable, providing an ideal opportunity for successful treatment. Misalignments and dental issues can lead to various consequences, including respiratory allergies and obstructed nasal and oral breathing, tension and cramping of the jaw, neck, and back muscles, spinal posture weaknesses, and premature tooth loss due to cavities. Orthodontic treatments aim to identify these underlying causes and prevent subsequent complications. Advances in orthodontics have introduced alternative modern technologies to traditional braces, allowing for a gentle correction of jaw symmetry and alignment of teeth.
Dental corrections in adults
Orthodontic treatments can also be recommended for adults. Issues such as tooth gaps and misalignments can be effectively treated. The treatment duration for adults typically ranges from about 12 to 18 months, and in mild cases, it can be as short as 6 to 9 months. Check-up and correction appointments are scheduled every 5-6 weeks. The devices used by our orthodontic practice are mostly invisible externally and should only be worn between 16-18 hours a day.
Speaking is also possible without any problems after a short adaptation period. This means they can be worn by working patients throughout the entire treatment duration. It is important to us to achieve the desired treatment results as quickly as possible and to enable beautiful, straight teeth.
Used appliances
Example of plate regulation
Example of Invisalign
Crozat
Removable dental braces for the upper or lower jaw (single jaw appliances), which are entirely made of wire soldered or welded together. Dental arches are harmonized. The appliance is externally invisible.
Plates
The colored, removable plate appliances correct minor misalignments (see illustration).
Bionator
This appliance corrects jaw misalignments. This basic appliance is removable.
Aligner Therapy (e.g., Invisalign)
Invisible aligner trays are used to position the teeth in the correct direction in a few months. Small tooth-colored mini attachments are used to facilitate optimal tooth movement. We use systems such as Invisalign.
Invisalign®
The Invisalign® treatment offers a nearly invisible way to straighten teeth. Using 3D computer technology, a complete treatment plan is first created, documenting the initial position of the teeth and the desired final position. Based on this, a series of transparent aligners are custom-made for your teeth, through which the teeth are brought into the final position through precisely controlled movements.
In the Invisalign® treatment, not only the extent of movement but also the timing of movement is controlled. Therefore, the aligners are typically changed approximately every two weeks according to the treatment plan, allowing for efficient force transfer. The duration of the Invisalign treatment depends on your individual requirements and will be determined in the treatment plan after a thorough consultation and examination.
